"I have a dream" speech

            Ladies and gentlemen, I am here today to open your eyes on a major issue in our great country, an issue that is putting our future generations in danger. Many teens are falling into the deep dark fate of under aged drinking. Hundreds of teens across the country are dying from drinking while driving and even though there are a lot of awareness organizations and other things to help prevent this, the number of deaths is still rising. We simply aren’t doing enough. The young adults and teens in this country are our future and we must come up with a way to stop this harmful habit teens get sucked into. I know these teens have a responsibility to make their own decisions, but we have to help guide them through their journey to their adulthood. All we have to do is just keep trying, trying to extinguish this problem. I have a dream that one day this nation’s teens will rise together above the influence of alcohol. I have a dream that our nation will be safe and free from under aged drinking. I have a dream that teens won’t even think of the terrible thought of drinking. I have a dream. My dream is to make our great nation of the United States of America stronger and safer, by uniting our teens together and have them face reality. Together we shall face this problem and never look back at the past. Together we shall become safer by fighting this issue or together we shall fall!

Overcoming What Seems to be Impossible

The Amputee QB

 

          After reading The New York Times Upfront magazine article "The Amputee QB" I realized even greater that anything is possible. On September 3, 2011, Jacob Rainey was playing in an average scrimmage as quarterback for Wooberry Forest High School. On a play Jacob decided to rush the ball himself, a tackler dived straight for his legs and rapped himself around Jacob's legs. Jacob tried to push himself for a few more yards and all of a sudden Jacob herd a pop from his right knee. " I just herd a pop, and the next thing I knew I was on the ground,"  Jacob  had dislocated his right leg at the knee and an artrery had been ruptured. This cut off the circulation to the lower part of his leg. Jacob's tissue in his leg was dieing rapidly and after multiple operations doctors had to amputate Rainey's right leg above knee right before his thigh. Many doctors and other athletes with prosthetic legs said that there was no way that Rainey would ever be able to play football again because prosthetic legs were only made to be able to run straight not run and move side to side like a quarterback is forced to run. But, Jacob Rainey was determined he would step on the football field and play again. Six months later Jacob meet for the first time with physical therapist David Lawrence, at the time Jacob could only walk. For months they worked on Jacob being comfortable with the leg and by July Jacob was ready to try his new leg on the football field. He did very well throwing but was still a little slow moving around. Jacob worked extremely hard until early September when his coach, Clinton Alexander decided Jacob would start in the first game of the 2012 season. On the first drive Jacob lead his team down the field to a touchdown in five plays that was the only time he played in the whole game but it was an amazing accomplishment. Now Jacob is working on playing more and more throughout the season. This one article opened my eyes, and filled myself with amazement. It made me feel like I could do anything or anyone could do anything. One connection I have with this story is in hockey, I have fractured my lower back and hip before, and I overcame those injuries and chose to keep playing hockey because I love the sport. Jacob did the same thing but at a extremely higher level. This story amazed me and made me feel anything is possible, what about you?

Extra, extra read all about it: new law passed declaring no rules in the United States

         Yesterday morning in a heated government meeting, congress passed a new law called the no rule law. This law removes all past laws and replaces them with this one law because this law states that there is no more rules in the United States of America. We are just seeing the affects now of the new law, there have been hundreds of reports of vandalisms around the country. People now just don't care about anything, and are not showing up to work or doing their jobs. Also, there has been many reports of children of all ages driving cars and getting into major accidents. The country is slowly being destroyed by its own people. There has been a total of thirty-six deaths in the past twenty-seven hours that the law has been in place. Most causes of death have been people doing mindless things or from others mindless actions. This is a major downfall in U.S. history and this law hasn't even been in place for two days yet. It is mass destruction all across the United States and there is no way of stopping it because we no longer have a military to keep our people in line.The United States is digging its own grave. Like I stated earlier people are just not doing their jobs, so I am just going to quit now since there is no point of writing the newspaper anymore because nobody has anything to read about now because everything would be about destruction.
